At one time or another, everyone can benefit from extra help in coping with the "balancing act" of life.

"I didn't know it was going to be like this."

Some difficulties seem insurmountable when faced alone; others are significant enough that they shouldn't be faced alone. In either case, if you're:

  • living with emotional stress;
  • worrying about family, work, or relationship problems;
  • feeling depressed or anxious;
  • or, just having difficulty figuring out what to do next;

counseling could make an important and beneficial difference to your life.

Professional counseling services can uncover new perspectives on your situation. From that vantage point, you can start working on realistic and actionable activities that will help to reshape your situation, reinvigorate your life, and get back on track.

The simple process starts with your first steps on this straightforward path:

  • Under personalized guidance and complete confidentiality, we'll explore your primary issues of concern.
  • You'll receive objective insights and suggestions that aid decision-making and determine next steps.
  • Along the way, you'll discover a wealth of problem-solving strategies, coping mechanisms, and special techniques for your unique situation and circumstances.

Most importantly, you are an active participant in this process ... empowered to develop and act on the specific plans that: reduce your stress and worry; increase your ability to balance demands; enable effective coping skills; and enhance your peace of mind and quality of life.

Challenges of Caregiving ...

Caring for a relative, partner, or elder parent is a profound act of love. But that doesn't make the reality of being a caregiver any easier, or any less stressful.

This growing population requires special expertise that represents an important part of my counseling practice.

As life changes occur for your loved one, your life changes as well. Learning to cope with diminished abilities, impaired judgment, personality changes, financial concerns, and more is enough to strain the emotions and commitment of any caregiver.

In these situations, counseling can be beneficial for both the caregiver and the care recipient by addressing:

  • Diminished physical and mental abilities
  • Personality and behavior changes
  • Loss of communication abilities
  • Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease
  • Concerns about housing, memory loss, family dynamics, safety, difficult behaviors, and long term care
  • Care options and costs
  • A prioritized plan of care

A Personal Perspective

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I have worked with individuals using a variety of Cognitive, Behavioral and other therapeutic techniques - including EMDR - that lead to self-discovery and change.

With professional experience in agency, community, and educational settings, I'm able to identify extra resources outside of our counseling sessions. These additional resources ... support groups, workshops, community services, and other health and wellness professionals ... complement the counseling relationship and reinforce an individual's mental and physical well being.
